The King pitches the Mariners to Victory!

King Felix Hernandez has pitched 8 Strong innings for his 10th Victory of the year.

He has gone seven or more innings in his past eight starts, the longest active streak in the majors. Over his last 10 starts, he is 6-0 with a 1.30 earned-run-average.

Having Hernandez on the team is very similar to how the Mariners used to be with the Big Unit. If your team is in a slump, you just need to bring out our ace!

Franklin Gutierrez started the game with a league-best .385 average since June 18th and has hit 23 of his last 25 games. In the 2nd inning Gutierrez hit his 11th homerun to put the Mariners up 1-0. Gutierrez is making GM Jack Zduriencik look brilliant

Raul Ibanez hit a game winning home run in the bottom of the 9th inning to beat the Rays 2-1! It is funny that the day earlier Tampa did the same thing and beat the Indians after scoring 6 runs in the bottom of the 9th. Talk about a melt down. Ibanez is heating up, In the last 7 days Ibanez is hitting .448/.443/.759, now baseball is weird and I will dig into why Ibanez's OBP is lower than his batting average. Something to note thou is that he hasn't walked in 7 days...(OUCH!) Felix pitches 8 fantastic inning to keep the Rays at bay. His control wasn't sharp as he walked 3 but struck out 5. Jose Lopez raised his batting average to .309 by going 2-3. If Lopez could just get on base more and have a higher OBP than Batting average Lopez could turn into a superstar.

950 KJR Reporting Vidro has been released!

KJR AM 950 Seattle is reporting the Mariners have designated Jose Vidro for assignment. He has already passed waivers and they have tried to trade him.

Also Brandon Morrow has been demoted to Triple A for his conversion to Starting. He has been brillant out of the pen this season. Filling in for Closer JJ Putz.

The twins have a lot of great young arms on the team. This team is surging 13 games over .500 and a chance to win the division. They currently have a half game lead over the White Sox in the central. The Twins are the surprise team this year and have a history of late season charge. I say the twins win the series 2games to 1. I think that RA Dickey will win game 2.

Bedard test shoulder by throwing long toss in outfield

Eric Bedard is throwing again in the outfield. On Saturday he told MLB.com and the Baltimore Sun he expects to throw in a couple of more games before the end of the season. Any progress with Bedard is good. Bedard is a type of pitcher when healthy can be a #1 on any team. His relationship with Seattle Media is very chilly. I guess any news is good news.

The Mariners made one move- Mariner Nation is in shock!!!

I am not sure if I am surprised that the Mariners didn't trade Washburn or that they actually made one trade. The trade they made was minor while Gaby Hernandez might become a good #3 starter in the future, and the Mariners did not give up much. The Mariners didn't improve for 2010 the way they should. They have a lameduct interm Lee Pelekoudas who is either afraid to make any moves or has his hands tied.

I have always felt that the Washburn to the Yankees was going to be a bad deal and I am happy about it. It would have been nice to trade Washburn but talent wise the Mariners were not going to give equal return. The Mariners are a rich ball club. There objective going into the trade deadline was to aquire talent for the 2010 club. They are not looking for a salary dump.

The Mariners should have traded Ibanez. He doesn't have the glove anymore and if the Mariners offer him arbitration , Ibanez likes Seattle so much, he might accept it. The Mariners would than be out a type A, and Type B prospect. Who knows what the Free Agent market will hold this off-season all we know is that the Mariners are the worst run franchise in Baseball.

Rhodes Traded to the Marlins

Peter Gammons reports the Marlins have picked up Arthur Rhodes from the Mariners for Minor leaguer righty Gaby Hernandez. Rhodes has pitched well for the Mariners this year and at this point in his career is more of a situational lefty. He numbers with the Mariners are2.86 ERA in 22 innings this year after missing '07 due to Tommy John surgery. Not only do the Marlins get a serviceable lefty, they also get a veteran presence and leader in the clubhouse.

Morrow Might Join the Starting Rotation

All I can really say is about time! Morrow has wasted very precious development time over the past two seasons in the Bullpen. Follow this link by Jim Street.

UPDATE: I am actually starting to like Riggleman, but I am not liking how he manages his lineup with Vidro batting 4th and such...but having Morrow in the starting 5 is a brillant move.

39-65 Washburn ups his trade value :)

Jarrod Washburn pitched 8 strong innings in a 5-1 game in Toronto. Washburn put a hault to the Mariners 7 game losing streak. Washburn who is reported to be on his way to New York, pitched in perhaps the last time he will wear a Mariner Uniform. Washburn has pitched brillant since May and has really upped his trade value. He has a sub 3.00 era in his last 10 starts! Ibanez went 3-4 with 2 doubles. Jose Vidro hit a homerun in the 6th inning off of Marcum. JJ putz pitched the 9th inning and gave up a hit, and than closed the job!

No Peanut Zone? How about a new roster :)

The the Mariners are going Peanut free on August 5th vs the Twins and September 9th vs Rangers. What I don't understand is why they are doing this. Call be a douche or something but peanuts, sunflower seeds and crackerjacks are part of Baseball. The world has turned to PC and I am fucking tired of it. Seriously.

Only sections 311 and 312 down the right field lines in Ichiro Land, which is formerly called the Bone Yard will be nut free. Also Signs will be posted on the ban of Peanuts in those sections. And to top it off, no peanuts will be sold around those sections in the concession stands. So just walk another 30 feat to section 314 to buy them ;)

I wish I could write more about what is going on in the field. Instead the Mariners are more concerned about what is going on in the stands. Can't wait to see a drunk, break the rules and get kicked out of the stadium. I don't blame them (for getting drunk) because the team blows!

So it was an off day...

Wow, what an off day can do for you. Great weather in the Seattle area, with 80 degree tomorrow before game time. Thou the game will be in Toronto. The Mariners are going against another team that has underachieved. Toronto who earlier this year fired Manager John Gibbons has their former World Champion Manager back at the helm. Cito Gaston who is infamous for never using a bench or knowing how to use one is back . He quit before the end of the 97' season. Many Blue Jay fans are sooo happy that Cito is back, but if I were a true Blue Jay fan. My first question would be, where were you when times were rough?

Match up coming up starting Friday for the Mariners vs the Blue Jays will be Miguel "Can't throw a strike even if the strike zone is as big as Eric Bedards a$$" Batista with his 4-11 record and a 6.89 ERA. Are the Mariners trying to lose, Everybody knows that the MLB draft is a crap shoot seriously!

Starting for the Blue Jays on Friday left hander John Parrish with his 1-0 record and 4.50 era. Word on the street is that if Parrish doesn't do good, the Jays will be shopping Parrish or demoting him to the bullpen.

Some good news coming out of Mariner camp is that Jose Lopez is currently riding a 11 game hitting streak! Whats even better is that it is Lopez 3rd streak of 7 or more games this season. Holy COW!

Up on Saturday it will be Veteran Carlos Silva and his monster contract vs Jesse Litsch ((8-7 with a 4.46 ERA.)

So the Marines are on pace to lose 100 games. Looking at last nights game, I was somewhat impressed with Jon Lester. He pitched 7/ 1/3 innings, in the 8th inning he loaded the bases. Jonathan Papelbon pitched two pitches to Raul Ibanez, on the 2nd pitch. Raul of course hit into a double play. (clutchsuckfest).

The good news is that Jarrod Washburn pitched like a good #4 starter. I know that teams out there will be looking at this, but with Oakland taking over the market. Seattle can not overcharge for there players. Washburn pitched 5 2/3 innings while giving up 2 runs. Varitek is still dangerous even thou his batting line doesn't say it. Washburns only two runs was a mistake out over the plate to Varitek, and Varitek made Washburn pay for it. One thing Washburn can't do anymore is have any mistakes. Ichiro was hitless in 4 abats. In order for the Mariners to avoid 100 losses, Ichiro needs to heat up. He is currently hitting a meager .300 without any power, any gap power either. The bottom of the Red Sox lineup drove in all the runs with Lowie and Varitek bringing in the runners. Manny went 3-5 with no runs or RBI's.

Lowe came in and pitched 20 balls and 20 strikes. He gave up the other two runs. Lowe needs to be sent down. Pitchers are so much more effective if they just throw strikes. Take a look at Cliff Lee. Batista came in and gave up two hits and a walk before retiring the side in the 9th inning.

This Mariner team is full of wholes.

Hello, I am one of the authors who will be contributing to the blog. Y'all can call me James or JTrip. I will focus on the whole MLB and the great baseball sims Out of the Park 9 and Baseball Mogul '09. Some of you who come from the Sports Mogul forums may know me, as my user name there is RedsoxRockies. Yes, I am a Red Sox/Rockies fan on a Mariners blog, but I have always liked the Mariners, even though Bavasi made a mess like no other. I hope you all enjoy my posts, and that they contribute to making this the greatest Mariners/MLB/Baseball Mogul Blog on earth. As for BoomBoom, I have to disagree on your grades for the games. I would give:

Jarrod Washburn- Time to trade is now

Monday: Red Sox (Jon Lester, 7-3, 3.38 ERA) at Mariners (Jarrod Washburn, 4-8, 4.83 ERA)

Today really starts the day for the Mariners to audition Washburn. Washburn hasn't been that bad and been pretty good the last couple of starts. He is at best a 5th starter on a contending team that will eat up innings. I know he will be on the move. What the Mariners need to do is trade him to Florida for Dan Evans :D

Boston for 3 games

So top contender Boston is coming to Seattle for 3 games. Here is what the match ups look like :)

Monday: Red Sox (Jon Lester, 7-3, 3.38 ERA) at Mariners (Jarrod Washburn, 4-8, 4.83 ERA)
Tuesday: Red Sox (Daisuke Matsuzaka 10-1, 2.65ERA at Mariners (R.A Dickey, 2-4 3.86ERA)
Wednesday Red Sox (Clay Bucholz, 2-5 5.88 ERA at Mariners (TBD)

My guess is that Felix will start on Wednesday, he last pitched on Friday, so I would expect him to start on Tuesday, and if his arm is okay. He should start one game with Boston in town.

Shin-Soo Choo strikes!

Shin-Soo Choo strikes the Mariners. His 8 extra base hits helped the Indians stop their 10 game losing streak to beat the Mariners 9-6 on Saturday. He was traded to the Indians in the stupid Ben Broussard trade. Broussard is now in the Yankees minor league system and Bavasi is gone :) According to ESPN,
Choo was so devestated when the Mariners traded him he still remembers the date of the trade, July 26, 2006. Choo is currently hitting .250/346/457/802 in only 116 abats.

Ichiro had his first extrabase hit since June 14th that didn't matter in the 9th inning with a 2 run homerun. Bastita pitched 2innings and gave up 8 runs, yes 8 runs. I believe Miguel is signed for one more season...stupid Bavasi!

The Mariners climbed there way back to 20 games under .500 with a win Friday night. King Felix pitched 6 innings, struck out 8, and only allowed 2 runs on 4 hits. Manager Riggleman seems to have him on a pitch count because he only threw 98 pitches but said that the pitch count watch will be off for his next start.

What really pisses me off is that none of these games count anymore. The Mariners really need to start trading stars. Starting with Eric Bedard. Bedard is a piece of work. He isn't durable, and this is another Bavasi trade that doesn't make sense. It never made sense! If Bavasi did his home work; he would have seen that Bedard was never durable and averaged around 103 pitches for his work in Baltimore.

Your 2008 Seattle Mariners

The Seattle Mariners are going to go down as the worst disappointment since 1992. The M's currently have a .396% and are on pace to lose 98 games this year. Some experts picked them to win the West, while most others picked them to be in contention until September. So my question is what the FUCK happened?

Looking to what happened, it starts with Bill Bavasi and end with Howard Lincoln. Bill Bavasi was hired after the 2003 season. His very first season the Mariners lost 90 games. They have only had 1 winning season which was last season. He has only made a few good things with the Mariners. Like Sean Green and signing Adrian Beltre. He couldn't get rid of Richie Sexson, and he traded for Jose Vidro who had a Monster contract! The trade for Vidro basically tells you how smart Bavasi is. I know that running a team is very hard, and when you have 29 other GM's trying to outsmart you....you have it tough, but when 29 other GM's do outsmart you. You have no business being in the sport. Bill Bavasi lives and dies with veterans. He signs them to outrageous contracts because they are SO called proven. Yet they don't produce. And in baseball it isn't about what you did for me or what you did yesterday. It is about now, what are you going to do for me now. When he signs a former all star in Rich Aurilia to a stupid deal..and throws away 3,150,000 when he releases him just shows that Bill Bavasi isn't the smartest guy in the world. How the heck would throw millions of dollars around. I know that Billy Beane wouldn't.

As for Bill Bavasi, he is gone now. I hope I never even hear from the guy again... If I do, I want him to explain to me the Rafael Soriano deal.

As for Howard Lincoln, he hired Bavasi, and his tenure is a huge disapointment. It is time to bring back the former Puget Power exec, John Elis
