Stephen Strasburg

With the Mariners duking it out with the Washington Nationals and San Diego Padres for the worst record in the MLB (the Padres currently lead with a dismal 38-62 record, a half game worse than both the Mariners and Nationals who are tied with an equally dismal 38-61 record), all eyes turn towards who gets the #1 overall pick in next year's Amateur Draft. No matter who gets the prestigious-or not so prestigious- pick, they will all likely pick the same player, Stephen Strasburg of the San Diego State Aztecs. Strasburg, a sophomore this year, who turned 20 two days ago, had the kind of season every little kid dreams of, even if it is just college. Strasburg went 8-3 this season with a 1.57 ERA in 97.1 innings. He struck out 133 batters while walking a measly 16. That's over an 8:1 K:BB ratio. Strasburg give up only 61 hits-so he had over twice as many strikeouts than hits allowed!-and gave up only 17 earned runs. The kid is phenomenal and if the Mariners got him, he be included in the what could, one day, be the best rotation in baseball-Felix Hernandez followed by Strasburg followed by Brandon Morrow followed by Phillipe Aumont followed by Juan Ramirez.

Hopefully the Mariners Draft him. I know they will abuse him like they did to Morrow. Morrow shouldn't be in the bullpen. He should be in AAA learning to start, and pitching every 4-5 days.
